14,000 Teachers Recruited, 164 Basic Health Units Made Functional in Balochistan: Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir

**Quetta (Qudrat Daily):** Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan has said that the provincial government has completed the recruitment of 14,000 teachers in the education department and made 164 Basic Health Units (BHUs) fully functional to improve service delivery across the province.
He expressed these views while speaking to a delegation of senior journalists who called on him in Quetta. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the overall political, social and economic situation of the province, the provincial budget, progress on development projects, transparent appointments in the education and health sectors, and the activation of basic health facilities.
The Chief Secretary said the provincial government is making all-out efforts to ensure effective service delivery, good governance and timely completion of development projects. He added that public welfare remains the government’s top priority and that the provincial budget is being spent transparently on development initiatives.
He noted that the current fiscal year’s budget has given special priority to the education and health sectors, while a modern monitoring system has been introduced to oversee development projects. Emphasizing merit-based appointments, he said that for the first time in the province’s history, 14,000 teachers have been recruited, leading to the activation of 98 percent of schools.
Shakeel Qadir Khan further stated that 164 Basic Health Units have been made operational by providing required staff, medicines and equipment, aimed at improving healthcare services in rural areas.
On law and order, he said the provincial government is taking multiple measures, including the use of modern technology, provision of advanced weapons, training of personnel and construction of new police stations. He added that the merger of Levies into the police force has contributed to improved security conditions.
The Chief Secretary also highlighted a youth employment initiative launched through enterprise development, under which employment opportunities are being created for 60,000 young people in six districts of Balochistan. Additionally, in collaboration with Akhuwat, loans will be provided to 12,000 youths to support self-employment.
He stressed the importance of strategic development projects, describing them as vital for economic stability, growth and public welfare. Ensuring transparency, quality and timely completion of these projects, he said, helps build public trust.
He also briefed journalists on the BSDI schemes, district coordination committee–led development programs focused on local welfare. Under these schemes, more than 900 projects have been included across 35 districts, covering infrastructure, health, education and economic development, of which around 100 have already been completed. He added that the government aims to further expand these initiatives in 2025–26 to ensure sustainable economic stability.
