“Those in Power Should Show Magnanimity,” Says PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Appeals for Dialogue

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has made a renewed appeal to those in power to show flexibility and allow dialogue, saying he is “begging for a meeting” to help change the country’s political situation.

Speaking to the media at the Dahgal checkpoint on Adiala Road, Barrister Gohar said he visits the area every Tuesday but is repeatedly denied permission to meet. “The year 2025 has passed, now the situation should change,” he remarked.

He said that while the PTI continues its movement, negotiations are equally necessary, but the talks taking place do not match the seriousness of the prevailing circumstances. He urged the authorities to consider the gravity of the situation and “open their hearts,” appealing for compassion for the nation and its future generations.

Barrister Gohar stated that the system has come to a standstill for PTI. “If it had not stopped, we would not be standing here every day,” he said, adding that court orders are being issued under SOPs and ways must be found to improve conditions.

Referring to legal developments, he said that during 2025, two convictions were handed down to PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. He pointed out that while a ceasefire was reached with an external enemy in 2025, internal political tensions in the country have not ended.

Expressing concern about the future, the PTI chairman said it is unfortunate that the country is entering 2026, and it appears that the new year may also become “a year of punishments.”
