Karachi Mayor Fears Red Line Project May Not Be Completed Before 2035

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has expressed serious concerns over delays in the Green Line and Red Line projects, warning that the Red Line may not be completed even by 2035.
In a statement, Wahab criticized the persistent delays and urged the Public-Private Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL) to provide a clear completion timeline. He demanded that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) be reassured regarding the project deadlines, alongside urgent repairs of city roads and footpaths.
Wahab pointed out that the NOC issued in 2017 has still not been fulfilled, adding that Karachi’s citizens continue to suffer due to incomplete projects. He called for local leadership to be actively involved in the execution of such initiatives, stressing that ongoing issues are worsening the city’s condition.
Referring to past difficulties faced during the Green Line construction at Nagan Chowrangi and KDA Chowrangi, Wahab said residents are now enduring major problems along University Road due to the Red Line project.
