No Petrol Crisis in Quetta, Claims Balochistan Government Spokesperson Shahid Rind

Quetta:Spokesperson for the Balochistan government, Shahid Rand, has categorically denied reports of a petrol crisis in Quetta, attributing the rumors to fuel smugglers involved in the Iranian petrol trade. He stated that these rumors were being spread deliberately to create panic among the public.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson, Rand highlighted that Iranian petrol pumps posed serious security risks and had caused multiple accidents in the past month. He revealed that 28 incidents had occurred at such petrol pumps, resulting in millions of rupees in damages to the public.

Rand cited locations such as the Airport Road and Hazarganji, where these accidents had taken place due to the unregulated sale of Iranian petrol. He emphasized that the provincial government was taking strict action against illegal petrol pumps and fuel smuggling operations.

Refuting the claims of a petrol shortage, Rand clarified that the perception of a crisis was being created by smugglers pushing for the continuation of illegal Iranian petrol sales. He stressed that there was no legitimate reason to entertain such claims.

The spokesperson further explained that the government was ensuring the availability of legal petrol by enforcing regulations at petrol pumps. The storage of petrol at pumps was being monitored to ensure the supply of lawful fuel, and complaints related to the unavailability of legal petrol could be filed with the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Quetta.

Rand assured the public that any petrol pump found refusing to provide fuel would face strict action. He urged citizens to remain calm, assuring them that the government would continue to supply petrol through legal channels and that there would be no disruption to the regular fuel supply.

The Balochistan government’s focus, he reiterated, was to eliminate illegal activities and ensure the safety and convenience of the people of Quetta.
