Sindh Approves Development Projects Worth Over Rs1,000 Billion: Sharjeel Memon

Karachi:Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the Sindh government has approved development projects worth a total of Rs1,018 billion under its Development Strategy for 2025–26.
In a statement, Sharjeel Memon said that building resilient infrastructure to counter extreme climate conditions, rehabilitation of flood-affected areas, promotion of education and health, improved connectivity, and poverty reduction are among the government’s top priorities.
Sharing details of the projects, he said that Rs340 billion has been allocated for the reconstruction of 1,600 secondary schools damaged by floods. He added that nine new cadet colleges will be established, while work on the Women’s University in Sukkur is being completed on a fast-track basis.
The senior minister further stated that the Sindh Peoples Flood Housing Scheme (SPHF) for flood affectees is ongoing in Karachi and other cities. So far, verification of 2 million houses has been completed, payments have been made to approximately 1.4 million beneficiaries, one million employment opportunities have been created, and land ownership rights have been granted to 300,000 women.
Sharjeel Memon emphasized that special importance has been given to girls’ education in the development plan to ensure access to quality education for every child. He said that Rs146.9 billion has been provided as grants-in-aid to SIUT, SICVD, Indus Hospital, and major hospitals across Sindh to ensure free and quality healthcare for citizens.
He added that Rs69.97 billion has been allocated for the Sindh Solar Energy Project in the energy sector. Under Foreign Project Assistance, investments worth Rs1,557.65 billion will be utilized effectively. Meanwhile, work is ongoing on the Ghotki–Kandhkot Bridge and the Dhabeji Industrial Zone under Public-Private Partnership initiatives, which are expected to contribute significantly to industrial growth and public welfare in the province.
