Punjab Driving License Fees Revealed, Major Update for Citizens
LAHORE: Important details regarding driving license fees in Punjab have emerged, as authorities have intensified enforcement against motorists driving without valid licenses.
Traffic police in various cities across Punjab have stepped up action against people riding motorcycles or driving cars without valid driving licenses. Officials have stressed that motorists must possess a valid and effective driving license to legally drive on public roads, and violations may result in legal action.
The Punjab government has also made the process of obtaining a driving license relatively easier. Applicants for a new license must first obtain a learner permit. After completing the required period, they are required to take a written or theory test and a practical driving test at the relevant licensing center.
After successfully passing the tests, applicants pay the prescribed fee for a permanent license, which is then delivered to their provided address through courier.
As of September 2026, the total fee for a one-year car driving license is Rs1,980, including Rs150 for the test, Rs1,350 as the license fee after passing the test, and Rs480 in courier charges.
Similarly, the total fee for a one-year motorcycle driving license is Rs980, comprising Rs50 in test charges, Rs450 as the license fee after passing the test, and Rs480 in courier charges.
Meanwhile, the checking of licenses for commercial vehicle drivers has also been intensified across Punjab. DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir has directed the relevant authorities to regularly check the licenses of drivers operating commercial vehicles.
Officials said action would continue against drivers operating goods and passenger vehicles without valid licenses. Traffic authorities said the enforcement drive aims to ensure public safety on roads.
Citizens have been advised to check the validity and legal status of their driving licenses before driving a vehicle or motorcycle to avoid fines and other legal action.
