JUI-B Rejects Local Election Delays, Emphasizes Service Over Power: Maulana Abdul Wasi

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Provincial Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-B), Senator Maulana Abdul Wasi, criticized those avoiding local government elections, calling it a deviation from democratic values. Speaking at the annual Dastaar-e-Fazilat Conference held at Jamia Abu Huraira, Juttak Staff, he said delaying elections undermines the public’s right to choose their representatives and reflects the fear some elements have of the people’s mandate.
Maulana Abdul Wasi stressed that JUI-B’s politics is based on guidance, service, and accountability, not the pursuit of power. He said the party has always supported timely and transparent local elections and rejects any discriminatory practices, particularly when citizens of Quetta are being denied their basic democratic rights.
He highlighted that JUI-B representatives, though limited in legislative authority, act as custodians of community resources at the neighborhood, street, and village levels. The December 28 elections, he said, will clearly demonstrate the difference between mere slogans and actual service, allowing the public to recognize true representatives of welfare.
Maulana Abdul Wasi also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to defending religious seminaries (madaris), which have historically played a vital role in preserving Islamic teachings, ethical training, social harmony, and ideological stability. He stressed that JUI-B has consistently stood for the protection, dignity, and autonomy of madaris, both constitutionally and at the parliamentary and public levels, and will continue to do so in the future.
He concluded by reiterating JUI-B’s dedication to public service, ensuring the fair, transparent, and appropriate distribution of government resources, and continuing to work for the welfare of the people at every level.
