Generals Cannot Run the Country, Parliament Has Become a Post Office; Women Will Now Lead the Resistance: Rabia Bajwa

Islamabad: Renowned lawyer and social activist Rabia Bajwa has launched a scathing critique of Pakistan’s power structure and political system, stating that generals cannot run the country and that Parliament has been reduced to a mere “post office.”

Addressing a convention in Islamabad, Rabia Bajwa said that even after 78 years, the country remains stuck at a point where neither judges nor lawyers are truly free. She expressed deep skepticism about the current judicial system, referring to it as “Dogar courts,” and said expecting justice from such a system is futile. She added that Parliament no longer exercises real authority and merely stamps prepared drafts instead of performing its constitutional role.

In strong remarks against the establishment, she said that military generals are incapable of running a country and have become a threat to the very existence of the people. She emphasized that governance must rest with elected representatives, not unelected forces.

Rabia Bajwa also voiced anger and concern over the situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as the imprisonment of political workers, including PTI founder Imran Khan. She urged youth and members of the legal fraternity to take to the streets for the supremacy of the Constitution.

Proposing a new form of protest, she suggested that the entire country should stay at home in protest, leaving roads deserted as a symbol of resistance. She announced that the upcoming resistance movement would now be led by women, calling it a decisive phase in the struggle for constitutional rule and democracy.
