Javed Hashmi Urges PTI and Opposition to Launch ‘Jail Bharo Movement’ Instead of Seeking Talks

Islamabad: Senior politician Javed Hashmi has advised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership and opposition parties to abandon what he described as a passive approach and instead adopt a strategy of active political struggle.

Addressing the “Tahaffuz-e-Ain” (Protection of the Constitution) conference in Islamabad, Javed Hashmi said that sitting in Adiala Jail and portraying oneself as a victim, or seeking negotiations, would not yield results. He urged political leaders to stop “begging for talks” and move towards a mass resistance movement.

He stated bluntly that the current rulers do not understand the language of negotiations, as they consider themselves colonial rulers. Referring to history, Hashmi said that all such “kings” came from outside and imposed their own systems, adding that constitutional restoration cannot be achieved through talk shows and rallies alone.

Javed Hashmi proposed the launch of a nationwide “Jail Bharo Movement,” suggesting that four to five people from every constituency should voluntarily court arrest on a daily basis. He claimed that if such a movement were organized and sustained for three months, the present rulers would be forced to flee, similar to the British during the independence movement.

He emphasized that only a consistent and organized mass movement can bring about real change and ensure the supremacy of the Constitution in the country.
