Stamp Papers Fee Scam: Shocking Revelations by Accused Who Caused Losses Worth Millions

Islamabad: Shocking facts have emerged during the investigation of the stamp papers fee scam that caused losses worth hundreds of millions of rupees to the national exchequer. According to sources, investigators have confirmed that an amount of Rs 296.4 million collected from stamp papers was not deposited into the national treasury.
Initial investigations revealed that court fees and foreign bills were also not deposited into government accounts. It was further disclosed that 2,638 fake and bogus challan forms were issued through the Federal Treasury Office (FTO). Alarmingly, the Federal Treasury Office had not been audited for the past four years.
The investigation team has written a letter to determine the reasons behind the failure to conduct audits. Meanwhile, bail pleas of 16 arrested FTO employees have been rejected.
On the other hand, low-denomination stamp papers have disappeared from the market and are being sold on the black market. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also launched an inquiry into the black marketing of stamp papers and has decided to take action against those involved in illegal sales.
Authorities say further arrests and disclosures are expected as the investigation progresses.
