Power Crisis in South Pashtunkhwa: Pashtunkhwa NAP Issues Ultimatum to K-Electric over Blackouts

**Quetta (Qudrat Daily):**
The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (NAP) has raised alarm over a severe electricity shortage in the southern districts of Pashtunkhwa, describing the ongoing blackouts as a complete failure of K-Electric and provincial authorities. In a press release from the party’s provincial secretariat, it was stated that several areas have been without electricity for days and even weeks, with multiple feeders completely shut down and equipment, including transformers, removed by K-Electric officials.
The release highlighted that where electricity is available, only single-phase power is being supplied, insufficient to meet the needs of households and farmers. The agricultural sector, already facing high inflation, drought, and government neglect, has been particularly hard hit. Tube wells remain inactive, crops are drying up, and farmers are suffering irreparable economic losses.
The blackout has also severely affected educational institutions, with schools and colleges struggling to maintain normal classes, while students face mental stress. Hospitals and basic health centers are similarly impacted, putting patients’ lives at risk. Businesses relying on electricity, including computer services, welding, and other trades, have come to a halt, leaving shopkeepers unable to pay rents.
The Pashtunkhwa NAP described the situation as the result of provincial government and K-Electric’s incompetence and anti-people policies. The party warned that if power supply is not restored immediately, feeders reopened, and removed transformers reinstalled, it will launch a vigorous protest movement in solidarity with the affected public. The party emphasized that electricity is a fundamental right and deprivation from it is unacceptable, vowing to pursue all constitutional, democratic, and political measures to protect citizens’ rights.
