Pakistani Kabaddi Player Enters Field with Indian Flag; Federation Announces Strict Action

Lahore: The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) has convened an emergency meeting following the incident in which Pakistani kabaddi player Ubaidullah played for the Indian team, wore their jersey, and carried the Indian flag during a tournament.

Federation Secretary Rana Sarwar stated that Chairman Chaudhry Shafaq Hussain has called a general council meeting on December 27. The tournament, held in Bahrain, featured 16 Pakistani players, but this was not an official national team. No permission or NOC (No Objection Certificate) was obtained from the government or the federation for their participation.

Rana Sarwar emphasized that the team was self-formed, misusing Pakistan’s name, and participating without informing the federation. “It is unacceptable for a national player to play for the Indian team and hoist their flag. Investigations will be conducted, and the strictest action will be taken. Action will also be taken against unauthorized promoters, and no one will be allowed to participate in illegal events,” he added.

He further stated that under no circumstances will Pakistan’s name be tarnished. While clubs in various countries may feature players from multiple nations, playing for a foreign national team and displaying their flag is deeply regrettable.

The PKF has assured that decisive measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future and to protect the integrity of Pakistan’s kabaddi.
