Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman Demands End to Land Grabs and Harassment at Checkposts in Quetta

**Quetta:** Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman Baloch, MPA and head of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, has called for an end to land grabs and the harassment of citizens at checkposts, urging the public to vote for Jamaat-e-Islami’s candidates for a better future and resolution of local issues. Speaking at a monthly organizational review meeting at the party’s provincial secretariat, he emphasized that Balochistan’s resources should be spent on the welfare and development of its people rather than being misused.
Maulana Hidayat highlighted the closure of roads, borders, and highways, along with general injustices and exploitation, calling on all forums to raise their voices for the rights of the people. The meeting also discussed preparations for local elections in Quetta, participation in the Minar-e-Pakistan gathering, and initiatives by Al-Khidmat Foundation, including upcoming “Ban-o-Qabil” programs in ten cities, including Loralai and Zhob. Computer labs have been set up at four locations in Quetta, with classes starting on January 25 and an entry test in Gwadar scheduled for the same day.
The provincial leadership condemned the closure of roads, prolonged checkposts, and unnecessary harassment by security forces, calling for immediate road repairs and removal of checkpoints. They also highlighted errors and bogus entries in Quetta’s electoral lists, demanding free, fair, and transparent local elections. The meeting was attended by provincial officials and Al-Khidmat Foundation Balochistan president Abdul Majeed Sarbazi.
