CM Bugti and 12 Corps commander’s steps guarantee lasting peace and development in Balochistan: Nasibullah Marri
KOHLU: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former provincial minister Mir Nasibullah Khan Marri has said that the serious and practical steps taken by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Commander 12 Corps for development, prosperity, restoration of merit, a brighter future for youth and lasting peace in the province are commendable, and that he fully supports these measures and stands with state policy.
In a statement, Marri said Balochistan’s problem is not limited to unemployment and poverty; an organised negative campaign is also being used to push young people towards despair, deprivation and extremism. Youth, he said, are a precious asset and must be brought into the national mainstream through education, jobs, skills and constructive opportunities.
He said that for a long time the monopoly of certain groups and vested interests had damaged merit and the rights of ordinary people. The present provincial government, however, was moving in a positive direction by giving priority to merit, transparency and public welfare. Chief Minister Bugti, he added, was discharging his constitutional duties as a patriotic Pakistani and taking practical steps for development, restoration of merit and peace and order.
Marri said a few so-called and self-serving elements were unhappy with the current system and the provincial government because their traditional monopoly and interests were being curtailed. Reform measures taken in the public interest, he said, could not be stopped through pressure or negative propaganda. He added that Bugti would complete his constitutional term and the government would continue working for the province’s development with continuity of policy.
Empowering Balochistan’s youth, creating jobs, improving education and health facilities, ensuring the supremacy of merit and establishing peace were a shared responsibility, he said, pledging full support for every positive step taken for the public, especially the youth.
Condemning terrorism, unrest, oppression and the killing of innocent citizens, Marri said terrorism was unacceptable in any form and that those who chose violence against the state and the people were enemies of peace, development and prosperity in Balochistan.
Paying tribute to martyrs of the Pakistan Army, security forces, police and other law-enforcement agencies, as well as civilian martyrs who laid down their lives for the defence of the country, peace and national security, he said their sacrifices would not go in vain and that Balochistan would continue its journey towards development and prosperity.
