Pakistan to Release Film *Mera Lyari* in Response to Indian Propaganda Movie

**Karachi:** Pakistan is set to release a feature film titled *Mera Lyari* in response to the Indian movie *Dharandhar*, which has been criticized for portraying Pakistan—particularly Lyari—in a negative light. The film is scheduled for release in the first week of January.

The production of *Mera Lyari* has been supported by the Sindh government. Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Information and Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said the film will be released internationally and aims to present the true and positive image of Lyari.

Sharjeel Memon stated that the Indian film *Dharandhar* is based on propaganda against Pakistan and unfairly targets Lyari. He emphasized that Lyari is not a symbol of violence, but rather represents culture, peace, talent, resilience, and courage. He added that attempts to distort reality through cinema cannot change historical facts.

According to the minister, *Mera Lyari* will highlight the area’s real identity by showcasing themes of peace, prosperity, and pride, countering negative stereotypes associated with the historic neighborhood.

It may be recalled that the Indian film *Dharandhar* was recently released and stars prominent Bollywood actors including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt in leading roles.
