Iran Initiated Contact for Talks, Not Me, Claims Trump

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iranian officials initiated contact for negotiations, asserting that he did not reach out to Tehran first.
Speaking on the matter, Trump stated that preparations were underway to destroy Iran’s largest electricity-generating plants, which he said were built at a cost exceeding $10 billion. He added that a single strike could have completely wiped out the facilities.
Questioning Iran’s position, Trump remarked, “Why would they want that?” and suggested that this was the reason Iranian authorities made the call to pursue negotiations and a possible agreement.
He emphasized that the initiative for dialogue came from Iran, reiterating that the United States did not initiate the contact but responded after being approached to resolve the situation.
