LHC Questions Petitioner Over Lack of Evidence in Alleged Abduction Case

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday questioned the petitioner’s counsel over the absence of documentary evidence regarding a woman allegedly abducted from Kahna.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum remarked that the case file taken from police custody was “empty” and contained no relevant material. She criticized the police, saying, “It is a bad habit of the police to remove things from files. This is the Chief Justice’s court, not a joke. Such irresponsible officials should not remain in the police department.”

The court also questioned the petitioner’s lawyer about why the missing woman’s national identity card had not been made and asked for any documentary proof establishing that the woman was indeed the petitioner’s daughter. Chief Justice Neelum further remarked, “You know that the woman was taken away by *jinns*, but you don’t know anything else?”

The court disposed of the petition while directing police to submit a progress report within 15 days.
