Islamabad Bar Announces Strike Over ‘Unfair Treatment’ of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Bar Association has announced a complete boycott of court proceedings today in protest against what it calls the judiciary’s “unfair treatment” of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha in the controversial tweet case.
According to a statement issued by the Bar, lawyers will suspend all court-related activities for the day. The association said it is observing a strike against what it described as an “illegal and unconstitutional” act of denying the accused an opportunity to present their defence.
The Bar Association expressed full solidarity with its members, stating that denying an accused the chance to defend themselves contradicts the principles of fair justice. The statement condemned the court’s conduct, calling it discriminatory and deeply concerning for the entire legal community.
The Bar added that lawyers across Islamabad are alarmed by the judiciary’s approach in this case. It demanded that Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha be given the opportunity to present their position before the court.
The association reiterated that ensuring fair trial rights is essential for the credibility of the justice system and warned that the legal community will continue to raise its voice against any deviation from constitutional requirements.
