DG ISPR: All May 9 Military Trials Completed; Only One or Two Cases, Including Faiz Hameed’s, Remain in Military Courts

**Islamabad:** DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif has announced that **all military trials related to the May 9 incidents have been completed**, and the remaining cases—except **one or two**, including that of former DG ISI **Faiz Hameed**—are now in **civil courts**.
Speaking at a press conference, the DG ISPR stated that no country allows attacks on its military installations. He added that the Pakistan Army has concluded all May 9 trials and closed the chapter from its side.
Responding to those claiming they oppose only an individual and not the army, he said:
> “What is the army? It is not a hereditary institution where positions are inherited. It runs on merit, discipline, self‑accountability, and a strong institutional culture.”
He emphasized that soldiers sacrifice their lives on the directives of the Army Chief and corps commanders, and the entire struggle is one of protecting the truth. He questioned:
> “Who architected this conflict? Who stood against India with courage? Who presented a clear doctrine against the Khawarij? These extremists have no connection with Islam.”
The DG ISPR criticized personal attacks on army leadership, making it clear that such behavior aims to create a rift between the military and the public—a goal that “no one can achieve.”
Highlighting the army’s social roots, he said Pakistan’s **560,000-strong force** is composed largely of **middle‑class and lower‑middle‑class families**, including children of schoolteachers, shopkeepers, martyrs, and junior officers.
He asserted:
> “We come from the people. No politician can create a divide between the army and the nation—not even their forefathers.”
He further challenged critics:
> “Send your own children into the army. You keep them abroad while attempting to undermine the army at home. Stand them against Khawarij and India—the very forces you are facilitating.”
The DG ISPR reiterated that the army’s duty is to **give life and take life** for the defense of the nation, and it will continue to do so with honor and discipline.
