Pakistan Comes First; One Individual Has Become a Prisoner of His Ego, His Politics Is Over: DG ISPR

Islamabad: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, in a detailed press briefing at GHQ Rawalpindi, declared that Pakistan’s national security faces major threats rooted in the actions and narrative of a single individual who has become “a prisoner of his own ego.”

The DG ISPR congratulated the nation on the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces, stating that the establishment of the Defence Forces Headquarters was a long-standing requirement that will enhance Pakistan’s war preparedness and strategic coordination.

He said that most of the internal threats Pakistan is facing today revolve around a person who places his own interests above the state. “His desires and ambitions overshadow the interests of Pakistan. This mindset has evolved into a clear national security threat,” he remarked.

### **Army–Public Divide Will Not Be Allowed**

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif emphasized that the Pakistan Army consists of people from every religion, sect, ethnicity, and political background, but once in uniform, they are unified as soldiers of Pakistan. He warned that no one will be allowed to create a divide between the Army and the people.

He sharply questioned: “Anyone who attacks their own army—are they trying to make room for another country’s army?” He added that the Army would respond even “with bare hands” if someone stands against it.

### **Prison Visits Used to Create Anti-State Narratives**

The DG ISPR said some individuals ignore constitutional and legal boundaries by using jail meetings to craft narratives against the state. “Which article of the Constitution gives the right to meet a convicted criminal and create an anti-state narrative?” he asked.

He reiterated that the Army has no role in politics and respects all political parties equally, urging that the armed forces must not be dragged into political battles.

### **Narrative Now a Direct Threat to National Security**

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif stated that the evolving threat landscape requires the new headquarters to focus on modern warfare. He said a “specific individual’s” narrative has become a direct threat to national security and that his ambitions now exceed the importance of the state itself. “His frustration is so high that he believes: *‘If not me, then nothing,’*” he noted.

### **Propaganda, Foreign Facilitation, and Anti-State Messaging**

The DG ISPR said this individual creates anti-state narratives whenever anyone meets him, bypassing rules and laws. He added that the Pakistan Army represents no specific sect, class, or political ideology — all soldiers stand only for Pakistan.

He highlighted that Pakistan’s army stands as a shield between India’s Hindutva ideology and Pakistan. “Anyone attacking the Army or its leadership is effectively trying to make room for an external force,” he warned.

The spokesperson revealed that the individual had encouraged narratives such as halting remittances, triggering civil disobedience, and urging foreign lenders not to support Pakistan. “Such agendas come only from Delhi,” he said.

He strongly criticized the person’s influence over foreign media, saying Indian and Afghan media consistently echo his talking points. “Are they doing all this for free? Their alignment is clear,” he added.

### **JIT, 9 May, and Ongoing Propaganda**

He accused the same individual of orchestrating the attack on GHQ and continuing to influence those who “spew venom against Pakistan” on May 9 and 10. He added that fabricated narratives about the CDF issue and other matters are part of the same agenda.

Indian media even falsely claimed that the PTI founder had died, he noted.

### **National Security Cannot Be Compromised**

Lt. Gen. Chaudhry said Pakistan’s security cannot be guaranteed by “begging in Kabul or Delhi,” noting that the Army is fully engaged in fighting terrorists, with soldiers sacrificing lives daily. He stressed that deception and falsehood will no longer be allowed to flourish.

“The Army is not going anywhere; we have sworn to defend the state. We stand on the side of truth and will remain there,” he said.

### **Army’s Independence From Politics**

Reiterating that the Army does not represent any specific region, class, or political segment, he said the institution works solely for the state. “Do not drag us into politics,” he urged.

### **On KP CM Suhail Afridi’s Allegations**

Responding to a question about KP Chief Minister Suhail Afridi’s criticism of the Army, the DG ISPR said: “We do not worry about barking dogs.”

### **Who Runs the Anti-State Narrative?**

He stressed that everyone knows who is driving the propaganda campaign. Meeting restrictions and social media bans are government decisions, not the Army’s, he clarified.

### **Sacrifice and Responsibility**

The DG ISPR noted that officers and soldiers die on the orders of commanding officers in the fight against Khawarij terrorists. He challenged political leaders: “Do not keep your children abroad — send them to join the Army and fight the Khawarij.”

### **9 May Cases Transferred**

He confirmed that all May 9 cases have been transferred to civilian courts, and the Army no longer holds any case related to the events.
