Political Meetings with Convicted Prisoners Prohibited Under Jail Laws: Azam Nazeer Tarar

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar have clarified the situation regarding the meeting and facilities provided to the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at Adiala Jail.

Addressing a joint press conference, Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that it took six months for a meeting to be arranged with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, but jail regulations clearly prohibit political meetings for any convicted prisoner.

Information Minister Atta Tarar stressed that the PTI founder is a convicted individual in the *£190 million case*, yet enjoys privileges never granted to any prisoner in the country’s history. He added that political discussions took place between the PTI founder and Uzma Khan, after which her visits will now be banned.

Atta Tarar further revealed that all three sisters of the PTI founder were present outside the Corps Commander House on May 9, and legal action will be taken against those violating the law outside the jail. He accused certain individuals of plotting to destabilize the state from within the prison and causing harm to the country for personal gain.

He emphasized that the prisoner in question is the *most privileged inmate*, but any violation of law will result in a ban on meetings. He added that strict action will now be taken to maintain law and order outside Adiala Jail and to put an end to the daily disturbances.

The Law Minister also stated that, according to the law, the President will appoint the Chief of Defence Forces upon the Prime Minister’s recommendation. He clarified that whoever serves as Army Chief will simultaneously hold the position of Chief of Defence Forces.

He urged the public and media to avoid speculation regarding the notification. The Ministry of Defence is actively working on the appointment, and there is no ambiguity regarding the process.
