Rawalpindi Traffic Police Crackdown: 21 Government Vehicles, Including DSP’s, Fined

Rawalpindi — In a strict enforcement drive, Rawalpindi Traffic Police have launched a crackdown on traffic violations, issuing challan tickets to **21 government vehicles**, including one belonging to the **DSP Traffic Cantonment**.
According to Express News, the operation was conducted under the campaign to make roads safe, as initiated by **Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz**, ensuring that traffic rules are followed by all, including government officials. During the crackdown, multiple officers from traffic, district police, and Islamabad police were found violating traffic laws.
The DSP Traffic Cantonment’s official vehicle was caught with **illegal tinted windows**, resulting in a PKR 500 challan and the removal of the black films. The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) **Farhan Aslam** also issued a showcause notice to the DSP’s driver and sought an explanation from the DSP.
In total, 21 government vehicles were fined for violations including **using black tints, not wearing helmets, driving without number plates, and violating one-way rules**.
CTO Farhan Aslam emphasized that **the law applies equally to everyone**, including government officials, and assured that under CM Maryam Nawaz’s vision, strict enforcement will continue. Officers and staff violating traffic rules will not only be fined but will also face departmental action.
