Heatwave Forecast Across Pakistan During Eid Holidays, Night Temperatures Expected to Rise in Karachi

KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has forecast a heatwave across Pakistan, including Karachi, during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha holidays, with temperatures expected to rise by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius.
According to the forecast, a high-pressure system is likely to develop on May 25, which may further intensify by May 26. The system is expected to trigger a moderate to severe heatwave from May 25 to May 31.
The department warned that several cities, including Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sukkur, Hyderabad, and others, may experience extreme temperatures ranging between 42°C and 50°C during this period.
In southern Punjab and interior Sindh, temperatures could soar as high as 47°C to 50°C, affecting a wide range of districts across the region.
For Karachi, the weather is expected to remain intensely hot, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35°C and 38°C. Meteorologists also cautioned that night temperatures in the city may increase, reducing relief during nighttime hours.
Areas in northern regions such as Malakand, Hazara Division, and Gilgit-Baltistan may also experience unusually high temperatures, reaching up to 38°C to 40°C.
Officials advised the public to take precautionary measures, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and stay hydrated amid the expected severe weather conditions.
