Adiala Jail Cannot Be Turned Into Party Headquarters, Says Pervaiz Rasheed

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML‑N) leader Senator Pervaiz Rasheed has said that turning Adiala Jail into a party headquarters is considered illegal, and all meetings there should only take place under court orders.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, Rasheed emphasized that no demands can be accepted through the use of force. He warned that mobilizing crowds on the streets would push the country toward instability and noted that attempting to fight legal battles on roads only encourages terrorism.

He reiterated that meetings with inmates should occur strictly in accordance with judicial directives and said that using Adiala Jail as a political hub is unlawful. “Neither protests nor noise can block the path of the judiciary,” he added.

Pervaiz Rasheed stressed that political disagreements must be resolved through Parliament and the courts—not through power. He said the rule of law is essential for safeguarding the country’s political and economic stability and urged the nation to unite against illegal sit-ins and street mobilizations.
