Disputes Erupt Within Political Party Ahead of Quetta Local Government Elections

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) — With the Quetta local government elections drawing near, political activities have intensified as various parties hold internal meetings and engage in lobbying to secure victories for their preferred candidates. However, disagreements over nomination and withdrawal of candidates have begun surfacing within certain parties.

In a recent meeting held by a political party, internal rifts came out into the open. The session turned heated as members exchanged harsh words, accused one another of favoritism, and strongly criticized the party’s provincial secretary general. The confrontation reportedly escalated to the point where party members—including provincial office-bearers and ministers—openly blamed each other for manipulating the nomination process.

The local government elections in Quetta are scheduled for December 28. Both political parties and independent candidates have completed their preparations, with nomination papers filed, scrutiny completed, and final lists displayed. Corner meetings and door-to-door campaigns have already begun across the city.

However, even before the campaign could gain full momentum, disputes within certain parties over candidate selection have intensified, raising questions about internal unity and organizational discipline.

The recent clash during the party meeting highlights growing frustration among workers who accuse the leadership of sidelining deserving candidates in favor of preferred individuals. Political observers believe such internal divisions may affect party performance in the upcoming polls.
