Nawaz Sharif Says PTI Founder Not Solely Responsible, Blames Those Who Brought Him to Power

Lahore — Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former Prime Minister **Nawaz Sharif** has stated that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), **Imran Khan**, is not solely to blame for the country’s troubles, claiming that those who facilitated his rise are “even greater culprits.”
Sharif made the remarks while meeting newly elected PML-N members of the National Assembly in Lahore. Punjab Chief Minister **Maryam Nawaz** was also present. He congratulated the members on their by-election victories, noting that the public rewarded performance while rejecting hatred, lies, and divisive agendas.
He criticized PTI’s tenure, stating that inflation rose from 3% under PML-N to 39% during PTI’s rule and that the country suffered economically due to their governance. Sharif said, *“The nation is still paying the price for the condition the previous government left the country in.”*
Highlighting the achievements of the current PML-N government, he cited initiatives in Punjab, including the construction of 120,000 homes for the poor, free medicine and healthcare, new hospitals, provision of laptops for students, and green bus services. He emphasized that law and order has improved, and citizens feel more secure.
Sharif also criticized PTI’s election boycott claims, pointing out that some family members of PTI leaders still contested elections. Regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he noted frequent changes in leadership and lack of consistent development policies.
He urged the newly elected members to focus on strategic planning, political stability, and economic recovery.
