Court Orders Removal of Victim’s Videos as Fugitive Suspect Uploads More Explicit Content

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered the removal of a woman’s explicit videos and photos from social media, after a fugitive suspect — accused of raping a woman who visited him for credit card processing — uploaded more images online.
The directives were issued during the hearing of petitions filed against the non-arrest of the accused in the rape and blackmail case.
During the proceedings, the investigation report submitted by the SP Investigation stated that raids were conducted to arrest the suspect, Zuneb, but he could not be apprehended.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Advocate Qamar Abbas, told the court that not only had the police failed to arrest the accused, but the explicit content was still circulating online. He added that the fugitive had recently uploaded even more images of the victim.
Shocking the court, the SP Investigation remarked that he had “no particular interest” in investigating the case. Justice Nisar Bhambro expressed strong displeasure over the statement, saying:
> “How can the police refuse to investigate? Who are you to deny performing an official duty? Remember, the police will not be given a clean chit until this case is decided.”
The court expressed serious concern over the negligence and transferred the investigation to the Additional IG. The court ordered the senior official to supervise the inquiry personally and to ensure the arrest of the fugitive suspect and his facilitators.
It also instructed that departmental action be taken against police officers who failed in their duties. Additionally, the court directed that all explicit videos and photos of the woman be removed from social media platforms and ordered that copies of the court’s ruling be sent to the IG Sindh.
According to the petition, the suspects had allegedly called the woman to the Tipu Sultan area under the pretext of processing a credit card and then assaulted her.
