KP Chief Minister Appears Before Election Commission Over Threats to Polling Staff

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohaib Afridi appeared before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after being summoned in a case involving alleged threats to election staff.

A five-member commission headed by the Chief Election Commissioner is hearing the matter concerning the alleged intimidation of polling personnel by the KP Chief Minister.

During the proceedings, Sohaib Afridi marked his attendance in the courtroom. His counsel, Ali Bukhari, requested the Chief Minister to approach the rostrum, but the Chief Election Commissioner instructed him to remain seated.

Meanwhile, Afridi’s lawyer submitted an application against the Chief Minister of Punjab, seeking action over the announcement of development projects in Hasan Abdal, an area falling under NA-18. He argued that the matter should be taken up alongside the current case.

However, the Chief Election Commissioner remarked that the application may be submitted formally and would be examined separately.

The hearing continues as the ECP evaluates the allegations and related requests.
