OGRA Recommends Reduction in Gas Prices; Up to 8% Relief for Sindh and Balochistan

Islamabad – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended a reduction in gas prices for consumers across Pakistan, aiming to balance financial discipline with public interest.

According to OGRA, gas prices for consumers in Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are proposed to decrease by 3%, while consumers in Sindh and Balochistan may see a reduction of up to 8%. The new average gas price has been set at Rs. 1804.08 per MMBTU for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Rs. 1549.41 per MMBTU for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).

OGRA explained that adjustments due to delayed LNG cargoes and financial reconciliations have been factored in favor of consumers, amounting to Rs. 13.565 billion for SNGPL and Rs. 47.315 billion for SSGCL.

The authority has forwarded its recommendation to the federal government, which will make the final decision on pricing. Until then, existing gas rates will remain in effect.

OGRA emphasized that the price reduction aims to ease the burden on consumers while maintaining financial transparency and balance for gas companies. The move is expected to provide relief to households and industries while keeping energy costs at a reasonable level.
