Pakistan Coast Guard Seizes 12 Illegal Fishing Trawlers in Balochistan Waters

Uthal: The Pakistan Coast Guard has taken strict action against illegal fishing (trawling) in Balochistan, seizing **12 fishing trawlers** operating unlawfully in the province’s maritime boundaries and confiscating **372 banned fishing nets**.
According to officials, the Coast Guard has been actively patrolling the coastal areas of Balochistan, including **Mand, Pasni, and Gwadar**, to combat illegal trawling and smuggling activities. Trawling, a prohibited fishing method, not only severely damages marine ecosystems but also affects the livelihoods of local fishermen. Moreover, trawlers involved in illegal fishing are often linked to other criminal activities, including weapons and drug smuggling.
Over the past month, the Pakistan Coast Guard’s persistent presence and patrolling have significantly reduced illegal trawling in the region, a move welcomed by local fishermen and beneficial to marine life.
The Coast Guard emphasized that it will continue to perform its duties with full dedication, resisting all external pressures, and will actively work to prevent smuggling and illegal activities, contributing to the protection of marine resources and strengthening the national economy.
