Sana Baloch Warns Federal Courts Could Become “Constitution-Breaking” if Used to Control Judiciary

**Quetta:** Former **Balochistan National Party Senator Sana Baloch** has expressed concerns over the establishment of federal courts, warning that such institutions could undermine judicial independence if misused.

In a statement on social media platform **X**, Sana Baloch said that long before the Charter of Democracy, in **2004**, he had discussed the need for a Federal Constitutional Court in the **Senate of Pakistan**. At that time, he noted, the Balochistan issue was becoming increasingly complex, and more judges were being appointed to the **Supreme Court**.

He further highlighted that in **2006**, his article titled **“Need for a Federal Constitutional Court”** was published in *The Nation*, emphasizing that a federal court is essential if the goal is to resolve disputes between the federation fairly and protect the judiciary from external pressures.

However, he warned that if the intent behind establishing such courts is to control the judiciary and secure favorable rulings, they effectively become **“constitution-breaking courts”** rather than federal constitutional courts.
