Proposal to Raise Voting Age from 18 to 30? Analyst Habib Akram Weighs In

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily)** — Senior analyst *Habib Akram* has commented on the growing speculation surrounding the draft of the proposed constitutional amendment, suggesting that some circles are even discussing the possibility of *raising the voting age from 18 to 30 years*.

Akram remarked that this idea seems to stem from the belief that the *majority of PTI supporters are young voters aged 18 and above*. “Someone, in their so-called wisdom, might have thought that the best way to deal with that is to raise the voting age to 30,” he said, while clarifying that this notion is *not confirmed* and remains a mere assumption at this stage.

He further noted that Pakistan has a history of *multiple drafts* circulating for the same amendment at any given time. “In recent years, we’ve seen three different versions of the same amendment moving around. It’s quite possible that by tomorrow, another five to seven drafts will appear,” Akram observed.

Commenting on the legislative process, the analyst said, “As far as the federal cabinet’s approval is concerned, even if you hand them a sealed envelope and tell them it contains a constitutional amendment that came from the heavens, the entire cabinet would approve it *without reading*.”

Akram’s remarks reflect the *growing uncertainty and skepticism* surrounding the upcoming 27th Constitutional Amendment and its rumored provisions.
