Calls for Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s Release Intensify as She is Hospitalized After Health Issues

Lahore:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid was transferred to the hospital from Kot Lakhpat Jail yesterday after her health deteriorated. Following her hospitalization, calls for her release have begun to grow louder, with political figures urging for her immediate release on humanitarian grounds.

Former provincial minister for IT, Reza Haroon, took to Twitter, stating that compassion and moral kindness demand that Dr. Yasmin Rashid be treated with leniency. He called for her release on bail, parole, or under house arrest, suggesting that her residence be declared a sub-jail. He further emphasized the need for a legal and constitutional route that aligns with human values, encouraging an act of generosity and forgiveness to create a positive example and bring balance to the political environment.

In a similar vein, renowned political figure, Suhail Pasha, also shared his thoughts on Twitter, advocating for Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s release. He pointed out that, in the past few years, many women in similar positions have already been granted bail, some of whom are actively participating in political activities. Pasha urged for an end to the injustice against Dr. Yasmin Rashid, highlighting her age, illness, and the need for her immediate release, either on parole or otherwise.

It is important to note that Dr. Yasmin Rashid, a senior leader of PTI, had been brought to the hospital after experiencing severe health complications, including difficulty breathing, an irregular heartbeat, and high blood pressure. Additionally, she has been suffering from stomach pain and acidity, though her condition is reported to be stable and not life-threatening.

This growing momentum for her release signals rising concern over her health, with many now calling for a humane and compassionate resolution to her current detention.
