PTI’s Asad Qaiser Criticizes PPP Over 27th Constitutional Amendment, Condemns Cases Against Hamid Raza

Islamabad: PTI leader Asad Qaiser has accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of engaging in political bargaining over the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Speaking to media during the filing of a petition for case details in the High Court, Qaiser said the amendment raises questions about PPP’s political stance, adding that the party should outright reject the package.
He praised PPP leaders’ ancestors for their contributions to democracy, noting that the 1973 Constitution was a major legacy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. However, Qaiser expressed concern that PPP is attempting to negotiate behind the scenes, supporting some provisions while rejecting others. He warned that if PPP stands firm for the constitution, it could mark a return to practical politics for the party.
Qaiser also criticized the judicial system, stating that interference in cases under administrative influence undermines the judiciary’s credibility. He emphasized that justice remains practically unattainable unless judges assert their independence.
Addressing recent events, Qaiser condemned the police raid on KP House, calling it an act that fuels public resentment and harms the federation.
Additionally, he lauded Hamid Raza for his contributions to democracy and the rule of law, condemning the cases filed against him. Qaiser expressed hope that Raza’s cases will be scheduled soon so that justice can be served.
