Quetta Faces Severe Cold and Gas Shortage: Citizens Struggle as Temperatures Drop Below Freezing, Children Go to School Hungry

**Quetta (Qudrat Daily)** — The capital of Balochistan, **Quetta**, is gripped by intense cold as temperatures plunge below freezing, but a severe **shortage of natural gas** has left much of the city paralyzed. Residents across several neighborhoods — including **Sariab, Brewery, Hazara Town, and Samungli Road** — report either extremely low gas pressure or a complete outage.
The gas crisis has badly disrupted daily life, especially for women, who struggle to cook meals or heat water. Many households have been forced to rely on **expensive and unsafe alternatives** such as firewood, coal, and LPG cylinders.
Parents expressed frustration, saying their **children are going to school on empty stomachs** because they cannot prepare breakfast without gas. “This happens every winter, but the Sui Southern Gas Company’s promises remain limited to statements,” said one resident.
Citizens warned that if gas pressure is not restored soon, they will launch **large-scale protests** against the ongoing crisis.
As the cold wave intensifies, Quetta’s residents say they feel **abandoned amid freezing temperatures and rising costs of alternative fuels**, demanding immediate government action to ensure stable gas supply across the city.
