Mail and Parcel Delivery via Jaffar Express Suspended, Postal Services Disrupted Across Pakistan

Quetta: The Pakistan Post’s mail and parcel delivery through the *Jaffar Express* has been suspended, disrupting postal operations not only in Balochistan but also across the country. The suspension has caused significant delays in the delivery of letters, parcels, financial documents, and official correspondence.

According to sources, under an agreement between **Pakistan Post** and **Pakistan Railways**, the postal department pays millions of rupees annually to ensure timely transportation of mail across various cities. However, continuous delays and the railways’ refusal to load mail have severely affected the department’s performance.

Officials from Pakistan Post stated that the **Quetta-to-Rawalpindi Jaffar Express** was the main route for dispatching mail from Balochistan to other parts of the country. The suspension of this service for several weeks has caused major inconvenience to the public.

A senior postal officer revealed that the railway authorities have repeatedly refused to carry mail, citing reasons such as “lack of space” or “concerns over smuggling.” This, the officer said, has crippled the postal network and caused widespread delays. The postal department has expressed **serious concern** over the issue and urged the **Ministry of Communications** and **Pakistan Railways** to take immediate notice and restore mail services.

Sources added that this is not the first time rail authorities have halted mail transport via Jaffar Express — similar disruptions in the past have cost the department **millions in losses**.

On the other hand, railway officials claim that **mail and parcel transport continues as usual**, asserting that stricter security checks have been implemented to prevent the misuse of railway services for illegal goods transportation.

Public representatives have appealed to the **Minister for Railways** and **Minister for Communications** to intervene urgently and ensure the resumption of postal services nationwide, noting that postal delivery is vital for **government, judicial, and commercial correspondence** across Pakistan.
