PTI Alliance Slams Section 144 Imposition in Quetta, Vows to Hold Rally Despite Restrictions

**Quetta (Qudrat Daily)** —
Leaders of the **Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (Movement for the Protection of the Constitution)** have strongly criticized the repeated imposition of **Section 144** in Quetta ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) gatherings, alleging that the government is using **law and order as a pretext** to suppress political activities.
Addressing a joint press conference at the **Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP)** central secretariat, PTI’s **Provincial President Dawood Shah Kakar**, PkMAP’s **Central Secretary General Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal**, Balochistan National Party’s **Information Secretary Agha Hassan Baloch**, and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s **Provincial Vice President Allama Vilayat Hussain Jafari** condemned what they termed an **“undemocratic attempt to silence opposition voices.”**
Kakar stated that PTI’s **central rally will be held on November 7** as planned, asserting that “**the public meeting will take place, Insha’Allah, despite attempts to sabotage it**.” He accused the provincial administration of **deliberately delaying permissions** for political gatherings, warning that **any attempt to disrupt the event would be the responsibility of the Chief Minister and concerned authorities.**
He added, “Whenever PTI plans a rally in Quetta, Section 144 is suddenly imposed under the pretext of security. We have full confidence in our institutions’ ability to maintain peace. Political parties must not be pushed out of the democratic space.”
Meanwhile, PkMAP leader **Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal** criticized the delay in notifying **Mehmood Khan Achakzai as Leader of the Opposition**, despite his nomination by PTI founder **Imran Khan** months ago. He termed the delay a violation of parliamentary norms.
The leaders also condemned the **denial of permission for a press conference at the Quetta Press Club**, calling it an “attack on democracy and freedom of expression.” They alleged that **judiciary and media are being pressured**, leaving democratic voices unheard.
They further expressed concern that while **trade routes with India remain open**, **border crossings from Taftan to Chaman are restricted**, causing severe **economic distress in Balochistan**.
“PTI is the country’s largest political party, and Imran Khan remains Pakistan’s most popular leader,” the speakers said. “If there is true democracy in the country, PTI should be allowed to hold its rallies freely.”
The alliance reiterated its commitment to **defending the Constitution and upholding parliamentary supremacy**, emphasizing that **no institution should act beyond its constitutional limits**.
