Former PTI Leadership Decides to Meet Government Ministers and Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Lahore: The inside story of a key meeting between senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman **Shah Mahmood Qureshi** and former party leaders has emerged, revealing a new political strategy aimed at reducing tensions and pushing for the release of **Imran Khan** and other political detainees.
According to sources, PTI’s former leadership has decided to launch a **“Release Imran Khan” movement**, led by **Fawad Chaudhry**, **Imran Ismail**, **Ali Zaidi**, **Mahmood Molvi**, **Sibtain Khan**, and others. The group has resolved to engage in dialogue with the **establishment** and hold meetings with senior leadership of the **Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)**.
Sources indicate that the former PTI leaders have agreed to take steps to **lower the political temperature** in the country and are planning to seek a meeting with Imran Khan. They have also expressed commitment to efforts for **Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s release**.
During the meeting, the group reportedly urged Shah Mahmood Qureshi to play a key role in resolving political tensions through negotiations. The former leaders believe that the **current PTI leadership is incapable of securing Imran Khan’s release** or effectively representing the party’s core objectives.
The former PTI leaders also met with **former Senator Ejaz Chaudhry**, **former provincial minister Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed**, and **former Punjab Governor Omer Sarfraz Cheema** to discuss the current political landscape.
In a major development, the ex-PTI faction has decided to hold talks with **government ministers**, while a **three-member delegation led by Fawad Chaudhry** will meet **Maulana Fazlur Rehman** to discuss ways to **reduce political polarization** in the country.
Fawad Chaudhry confirmed the initiative, stating that recent meetings with PTI figures including Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Ejaz Chaudhry have reaffirmed the need to work collectively for the **release of political prisoners** and a **political reconciliation process** in Pakistan.
