Gas Load-Shedding Worsens in Balochistan as Winter Begins — Public Outcry Over “Injustice by Federal Government

*Quetta (Qudrat Daily)* — As winter sets in, **Balochistan faces an unprecedented increase in gas load-shedding**, sparking widespread anger among citizens who accuse the federal government of once again discriminating against the province.
Despite being **the largest producer of natural gas**, Balochistan’s households are facing **low pressure and prolonged unannounced outages**, leaving residents struggling to cook, heat water, and stay warm. The crisis has gripped major cities including **Quetta, Sibi, Pishin, Ziarat, Mastung, Loralai, and Qila Saifullah**.
Frustrated citizens have condemned the situation, saying, *“Gas is extracted from Balochistan, yet its people remain deprived.”* They accused the **federal government of neglect and injustice**, claiming the province continues to suffer despite its natural wealth.
Gas company officials, when questioned, stated that the **load-shedding policy was approved by the federal cabinet** to “regulate supply according to national needs” during the winter season. However, this justification has further **intensified public anger**.
Political and social leaders have urged the **Balochistan High Court** to take **suo motu notice** of what they termed a violation of provincial rights and to ensure **uninterrupted gas supply** during the cold months.
Experts have warned that if the current situation persists, **the gas crisis could escalate into province-wide protests**, reflecting growing frustration over long-standing energy inequities between the federation and Balochistan.
