Ban on TLP Was Imposed During Imran Khan’s Tenure, Current PTI Leadership ‘Brought on Rent’: Fawad Chaudhry

Lahore: Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader **Fawad Chaudhry** has said that the ban on **Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP)** was imposed during the tenure of former Prime Minister **Imran Khan**, adding that the **current PTI leadership has been “brought on rent.”**

Speaking to the media outside the court, Fawad Chaudhry said that while PTI’s current leadership travels to London and Canada, “we continue to appear before the courts.”

Commenting on Pakistan’s current situation, he said that despite praise from **the United States** and appreciation from **Saudi Arabia**, no foreign investment has come into Pakistan. “International companies are winding up their operations and leaving the country,” he added, emphasizing the need for political and economic stability.

He also welcomed remarks by **Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi**, saying that his responsible stance on dialogue and negotiations was “a positive sign” and that lowering the political temperature was necessary. He added that granting bail to **Bushra Bibi** and allowing her to return home would also help defuse tensions.

Fawad further reiterated that the **current PTI leadership was brought in on rent**, and reminded that the **ban on TLP was imposed in 2021** during Imran Khan’s government. Criticizing the government, he said: “Maryam Nawaz attacked the NAB office — there are videos of it — yet she was acquitted. Those videos should be aired so the public can see the truth.”

Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry appeared before an **anti-terrorism court** in Lahore in connection with **five cases related to torching police vehicles near Mughalpura, Zaman Park, and Jinnah House.** The court extended his **interim bail until November 28.**
