73% of Youth Influenced by Online Content Glorifying Violence, Power, and Wealth: Survey

ISLAMABAD: A new survey by a U.S.-based organization has revealed that a vast majority of young people are being negatively influenced by online content promoting **violence, power, and the pursuit of wealth**.
According to the report, **73% of teenagers** admitted to being affected by such content, which is shaping their **personalities and mental health** in harmful ways.
The study found that boys who frequently view such material tend to experience **low self-esteem, loneliness, and emotional suppression**.
Interestingly, **68% of respondents** said they do not intentionally search for this content — it **appears automatically** in their social media feeds through algorithms.
Experts warn that this type of content not only **normalizes negative attitudes toward women** but can also **encourage aggression and violence** among impressionable youth.
Psychologists have urged parents to **discuss the impact of social media** with their children and encourage them to participate in **healthy offline activities** to maintain emotional balance and self-awareness.
