CM Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti: “Youth Are the Nation’s Asset, Teachers Must Bridge Gap Between State and Students

Quetta:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has emphasized that youth are the most valuable asset of any nation and teachers serve as guiding lights who can bridge the gap between the state and the younger generation.

Speaking during a meeting with faculty heads and members of various universities on Friday, the Chief Minister highlighted the critical role of educators in guiding students and countering misinformation. He said that in the past, strong editorial checks ensured accuracy and credibility in news, but with the rise of electronic and social media, fact-checking has weakened, creating confusion between truth and falsehood.

“Without strengthening our social values and institutional foundations, the introduction of 3G and 4G services allowed propaganda and false narratives to spread, distancing youth from the state. Popular rhetoric replaced truth and logic,” Bugti said, urging teachers to help students develop critical thinking and awareness.

The Chief Minister stressed that grievances should never lead to violence or armed conflict, reiterating that Pakistan was created with sacrifices from all communities—Baloch, Sindhi, Pashtun, Punjabi, and others—and belongs equally to everyone.

Bugti outlined reforms introduced by his government, including the hiring of 16,000 contract teachers, which helped reactivate 3,200 closed schools. He noted that, for the first time since independence, government medical facilities have been established in several areas, including the appointment of a doctor in Mand and the first childbirth recorded at the state hospital in Bactor.

He added that despite limited resources—much of which is consumed by non-development expenditures—the provincial government is determined to provide basic facilities to ordinary citizens and improve governance for fair resource distribution.

Criticizing the current focus on unnecessary infrastructure projects in universities, he said: “We cannot afford to keep constructing buildings when there are no funds to pay salaries. We must cut our coat according to our cloth. Sustainable progress depends on prudent use of available resources.”

Bugti concluded that true development lies in quality education, improved governance, and collective responsibility: “Every individual must play their role in Balochistan’s progress. The solution to grievances is not picking up arms against the state—this homeland belongs to all of us.”
