Government Team Holds Talks with Awami Action Committee in Muzaffarabad

MUZAFFARABAD:A high-level government delegation led by **former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf** held talks with the **Awami Action Committee (AAC)** in Muzaffarabad to address the ongoing unrest in Azad Kashmir.
The delegation included **PM AJK Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, Federal Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal, Amir Muqam, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, PPP leaders Raja Pervez Ashraf, Sardar Yousaf, and Qamar Zaman Kaira**. The team engaged in dialogue with AAC leaders in hopes of reaching a peaceful settlement.
Following the initial round of discussions, **Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal** told reporters that Pakistan seeks peace in Azad Kashmir, warning that hostile elements could exploit instability. **Amir Muqam** added that the talks were held in a positive environment and emphasized that disputes should be resolved through mutual understanding.
**Qamar Zaman Kaira** assured that the government supports all legitimate demands of the committee, noting that **Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself is monitoring the issue closely**. Raja Pervez Ashraf stressed that dialogue was the only viable solution and efforts were underway to normalize the situation swiftly.
Before departing for Muzaffarabad, Ahsan Iqbal had reiterated that the delegation was tasked by the Prime Minister to listen to AAC’s demands, highlighting that “certain elements are attempting to sabotage Pakistan’s peace and stability.”
Meanwhile, **Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry** and **PM AJK Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq** said in a joint press conference that **90% of the committee’s demands had already been accepted**.
The unrest in Azad Kashmir has turned deadly, with **at least six people, including three police officers, killed** and **72 police personnel injured** in recent violent demonstrations.
