PSO Leaders Warn of Protests Against Student Suspensions at BUITEMS

Quetta:Leaders of the Pashtoonkhwa Students Organization (PSO) have strongly condemned the suspension and imprisonment of students at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), warning that protests will be launched if the administration fails to withdraw the suspension orders.

Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Thursday, PSO Zonal Secretary Waris Afghan, along with Wahdat Afghan and Zohaib Kabzai, said that during a **PSO training session in December 2024**, university authorities attempted to provoke students and later filed baseless cases against them. As a result, six students were suspended and two others were jailed under the **3-MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) law** for eight months.

They alleged that BUITEMS security officers, on instructions from the administration, deliberately created a confrontation, vandalized property themselves, and falsely accused the students. Despite repeated directives from the Governor’s House to resolve the matter, the administration delayed proceedings for eight months, presenting the students before a disciplinary committee only in **August 2025**, without submitting a proper report.

The leaders added that students including **Yasir Arafat and Fardeen Khan** remained in prison for over eight months, while another student, **Arbaz Khan Mandokhail**, was arrested in uniform at the university gate five months later, which they termed an act of humiliation.

The PSO leaders also accused the university administration of making **illegal appointments from Grade 18 to Grade 21** without merit, undermining the transparency and credibility of the institution.

“If the suspended students are not reinstated, we will launch a full-scale protest movement, and the responsibility will lie entirely with the BUITEMS administration,” they declared.
