Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch Lauds Kech Cultural Festival, Calls for Expansion of Cultural Center

Turbat:Former Chief Minister of Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch praised the Kech Cultural Festival during its opening ceremony, saying the annual event has been organized in a unique and innovative way, moving beyond traditional patterns.
He commended the organizing committee for understanding social needs and crafting a program that gives the festival a distinct identity. Highlighting the inclusion of traditional and cultural performances, Dr. Baloch noted that the festival plays a vital role in keeping the region’s ancient heritage alive.
He said that the Kech Cultural Center has preserved historic musical instruments through community efforts, showcasing the people’s deep love for their heritage and culture. “The center not only safeguards Balochi culture, history, traditions, and music but also educates the younger generation about them,” he added.
Calling for the establishment of a second phase of the cultural center, Dr. Baloch appealed to Zahoor Buledi for cooperation on the project. He also regretted that the 13 posts created for musicians had not been activated and urged philanthropists to donate books to help meet the region’s educational and literary needs.
“Social media may provide instant information, but true wisdom comes from books,” he stressed, pointing out that many colleges and universities face a shortage of library resources. He emphasized that civilizations succeeded by fostering a friendship with books.
Dr. Baloch also urged people not to lose hope in their creative processes, reminding that the real achievement lies in maintaining a bond with knowledge and literature. He further announced that a grand festival will soon be held in Gwadar to mark the centenary of renowned Balochi literary figure Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi, describing it as the beginning of a significant and historic tradition.
