Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Chief Stresses Need for Character-Building, Honest Leadership Through Education

Quetta:Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and MPA, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, has said that around **30,000 to 35,000 students** are currently studying in Jamaat-e-Islami–affiliated educational institutions, where the focus should not only be on producing employees but on nurturing **honest leaders, nation-builders, and defenders of faith**.
Addressing a one-day seminar of directors of allied educational institutions at Quetta Press Club, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman emphasized that Balochistan is “burning in crises,” and all stakeholders must play their role in extinguishing this fire. *“We need to prepare capable, upright, and principled people who can lead with honesty. The first step in any movement is to recognize truth through the Qur’an and Sunnah, not merely through personal preferences or affiliations,”* he said.
He cautioned that movements do not succeed with slogans, speeches, or gatherings alone. Instead, the real strength lies in the **character, tolerance, and behavior of their workers**. *“Without proper ideological training, our struggle will remain reactionary noise rather than a meaningful force,”* he noted.
Highlighting the role of schools and teachers, he urged that children growing up in a corrupt and value-deprived society must be guided with proper **moral and intellectual training**. *“We must raise honest, self-reliant individuals instead of job-seekers. Balochistan’s youth are talented and patriotic, but they need strong mentorship and direction,”* he added.
Maulana said that if the **five million youth of Balochistan** are equipped with modern education and skills, most of the province’s problems can be solved.
Other speakers, including educationists Amir Zeb, Dr. Fazal Elahi, Nisar Mousa, Zahid Akhtar Baloch, Abdul Naeem Rind, and Tayyab Fareed Khan, also addressed the seminar. They stressed that the sustainable path to peace and prosperity lies in the **process of teaching and learning**.
They warned that mistakes by teachers can negatively impact generations, making **teacher training and leadership development** essential. They further said rote learning must be replaced with **creative, constructive, and truth-based education**.
*“The way to dignity, prosperity, and peace is only through education. With inspiration from the Qur’an and Sunnah, coupled with innovative methods, we can transform society,”* the speakers concluded.
