PTA Approves 6 GHz Band for Wi-Fi 7, Making Pakistan a Regional Pioneer

Islamabad: Pakistan has taken a major step toward faster connectivity as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) approved the use of the 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi 7. With this approval, Pakistan has become one of the first countries in the Asia-Pacific region to adopt this advanced technology.

PTA has authorized the use of the 6 GHz spectrum (5925–6425 MHz) for Wi-Fi 7 and future Wi-Fi generations, in line with the globally recognized Wi-Fi 6E standards.

According to officials, Wi-Fi 7 delivers ultra-fast data rates, extremely low latency, and unmatched reliability. By optimizing frequency usage and reducing broadband delivery costs, the technology will provide faster and more sustainable connectivity for households, small and medium-sized businesses, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and smart city projects.

This milestone reflects PTA’s commitment to bridging the digital divide, strengthening the telecom infrastructure, and advancing Pakistan toward a secure, modern, and inclusive digital economy.
