Sheikh Saleh bin Humaid Appointed as Saudi Arabia’s New Grand Mufti

Riyadh: Sheikh **Dr. Saleh bin Humaid**, Imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, has been appointed as the **new Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia** and head of the **Council of Senior Scholars**, following the passing of former Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh.
According to a statement issued by the Royal Court, the appointment marks a significant moment for Saudi Arabia’s religious leadership.
Born in **1949 in the city of Al-Bukairiyah**, Sheikh bin Humaid has a long record of scholarly and religious service. He has been serving as an **Imam of the Grand Mosque** since 1984 and has also led the **Hajj sermon at Masjid Namirah in Arafat**, an event of immense significance in the Muslim world.
Scholars have hailed his appointment as a defining step for Saudi Arabia’s religious institutions, noting that Sheikh bin Humaid is recognized as a **distinguished jurist, Quranic interpreter, and unifier of the Muslim Ummah** through his guidance and scholarship.
