Baloch Students Front Confirms Safe Recovery of Chairman Javed Baloch After Nearly Five Months of Enforced Disappearance

Karachi – The Baloch Students Front (BSF) has confirmed the safe recovery of its central chairman, Javed Baloch, after nearly five months of enforced disappearance. According to the group’s spokesperson, Javed Baloch, a student of law at Karachi University and resident of Awaran Malaar, was allegedly abducted from his residence at Blaze Tower in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi, on April 23, 2025.

The spokesperson said that Javed Baloch endured four months and 27 days of severe ordeal before being safely released on the night of September 18, around 10 p.m. His disappearance had caused deep anguish among his family and the student community.

BSF condemned what it termed a “colonial-style policy” of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, stating that Baloch students, youth, and political workers are regularly subjected to abductions, torture, and in some cases extrajudicial killings.

The group also highlighted other ongoing cases of missing students, including Zahid Baloch of Karachi University’s International Relations department, who has been missing for over two months despite repeated appeals for his recovery. Others named include Zakriya Ismail, Anees Baloch, Shoaib Baloch, Saeed Baloch, and Feroz Baloch, who are allegedly still in detention without due process.

Calling the practice “an assault on education and fundamental rights,” BSF urged authorities to immediately end the policy of enforced disappearances. The spokesperson emphasized that if there are any charges against the missing individuals, they should be presented in court under constitutional procedures rather than being subjected to illegal detention.
