Bilawal Bhutto Terms Pakistan-Saudi Defense Pact Positive: ‘Every Pakistani Wants to Protect Makkah and Madinah’

Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has welcomed the defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, calling it a positive step and emphasizing that every Pakistani wishes to safeguard the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the Greater Sewerage Plant alongside Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Karachi Mayor, provincial ministers, and legislators, Bilawal highlighted the importance of continued coordination between the federal and provincial governments.
He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had made commitments regarding Karachi’s development, and those promises must now be fulfilled. Referring to the S-III sewerage project, he noted that while it was initially a federal project, the Sindh government has now taken charge of its completion.
Bilawal stressed that natural disasters should not be politicized and urged the federal government to appeal to the United Nations for assistance in the aftermath of floods. He added that health crises are likely to emerge and called for relief through the Benazir Income Support Program.
On foreign relations, he noted that former president Asif Ali Zardari had received great recognition in China and that the Sindh government is working on solid waste management and other development projects.
Commenting on the defense pact, Bilawal said: *“The Pakistan-Saudi defense agreement is in favor of both nations. Recently, we defeated India in war, and every Pakistani wants to protect Makkah and Madinah.”*
He further criticized India for mixing cricket with politics.
